ChemAxon has always supported education and academic research with software to teach, study and work with cheminformatics applications. This is especially so in 2020, when many of the academic institutions needed to solve their education remotely; and when research labs are still eagerly hunting for the antibody and vaccine against COVID-19.
This provided us the grounds for organizing the very first event sepcifically for our academic users. We have collected the most widely used ChemAxon software products that would boost your classes and labs. On 27th of August we invite all the teachers and professors from high schools to universities; and researchers working in an academic lab to join us for a roughly 2 hours long virtual session. We will discuss the news of our chemical drawing application, called Marvin; drive you through the different calculations and major capabilities of Chemicalize and introduce our new educational platform called Zosimos. You can read more details in the agenda below.

Agenda of Cheminfo Stories for Academia
Marvin: Your Chemical Editor
Presenters:- Bertalan Kovács, Developer
Efi Hoffmann, Product Manager
Abstract:
Chemical drawing solution of ChemAxon, Marvin will be featured. Our desktop suite is a chemically intelligent toolkit built to help you draw, edit, and publish your chemical structures as well as allowing you to convert between various chemical and graphical file formats. Marvin JS, our web component is frequently used in education tools. This webinar will focus on academic use cases highlighting the recent improvements which can make the scientists’ and teachers’ work more efficient.
Calculate, search and draw online with Chemicalize
Presenter:- Tim Parrott, Application Scientist
József Dávid, Product Manager
Abstract:
Chemicalize is an online platform for chemical drawing, chemical structure calculations and predictions, and searching.
This presentation will highlight some of the calculators/predictors and show how these can be used to illustrate structure-property relationships.
Zosimos: a New Educational Experience
Presenters:- Erika Biró, Product Manager
Ágnes Peragovics, Application Scientist
Abstract:
Organic chemistry is one of the fastest paced courses a chemistry student has to take. The subject relies heavily on structural representations. Interpreting, manipulating and switching between the numerous structural representations is a complicated task for many students. To be able to predict the reactions and properties of organic molecules, students must practice organic chemistry little by little every week, and practice solving molecular representation and reaction drawing problems.
We would like to introduce Zosimos in this presentation. Zosimos is an online chemistry educational tool that allows chemistry students to independently practice and learn a wide range of organic structural representations (such as e.g. structural formulas, Lewis structures, three-dimensional representations, stereochemistry), combine them in reactions, and get immediate feedback on their progress. Workshop featuring Zosimos
Presenters:- Erika Biró, Product Manager
Ágnes Peragovics, Application Scientist
Highlights:
- Create interactive online chemistry quizzes and exams
- Share quizzes and exams with the students
- Review the results of the students
- Motivate the students with gamification
- Options to use Zosimos with other online classroom tools will also be explored
