Frontend Developer (MarvinJS)

Budapest, Hungary

ChemAxon is looking for a skilled front-end Java developer to work with us in our Budapest based office. Our company is a leading cheminformatics software and solution provider with its clients mostly coming from the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Our new colleague is going to develop and maintain Marvin JS, a JavaScript package that provides a web-based, feature-rich, chemically aware, graphical editor.

Your tasks will be:

  • Developing and maintaining Java code of a graphical editor that is transpiled to JavaScript.
  • Writing automated tests.
  • Working in an agile environment as a member of a small team in a flat organization.
  • Collaborating with internal and external teams.
  • Providing technical support for clients.
  • Writing JavaScript code examples to help the integration of the editor into the client’s web applications.

Experience, skills, and knowledge you should bring to us:

  • 2+ years of front-end development experience with OOP environment.
  • System thinking, ability to understand complex OO systems and make a clean decomposed design.
  • Java knowledge.
  • Experience in web development: solid JavaScript, HTML, CSS knowledge.
  • Good written and verbal communication in English.

Extras that we would appreciate:

  • Familiar with one or more JavaScript frameworks.
  • Creativity and familiarity with UX principles.
  • Experience in refactoring.
  • Software testing.
  • Familiar with Git, Maven, Eclipse, Jenkins.
