It has been noted that certain compounds frequently appear as hits in many high-throughput screening campaigns. The typical practice of removing frequent hits based on their empirical hit frequency carries the risk of removing compounds with desirable properties. We studied several important aspects of frequent hits, including their biological context, mechanisms, and chemical features; we then proposed an ABC frequent hit triage strategy.
