Short video describing how to import chemical files into new SharePoint lists using the JChem for SharePoint import features.
Welcome to the sixth training video of the JChem for SharePoint Installation and Usage series.
This episode will show and explain how to import chemical files into new SharePoint lists using the JChem for SharePoint import features.
You can import files containing various structure formats, like SMILES, IUPAC names, MRV, MOL, from any kind of text file.
You can also import structures contained in a JChem for Excel document.
Let's start by using the most accessible way to import chemical files.
Click the Site Actions menu and choose More options.
In the List category choose Import JChem file.
Type the name of the file. You can also choose to automatically pick the name of the file.
Browse for the desired file. I will demostrate the feature using the Wombat SD file.
Click Import. The upload progress is displayed.
After the chemical content is recognized, a popup is shown, to allow you to choose which columns to import.
Also, you can choos which column to render the ECB dropdown menu for each item.
I will now deselect some columns.
The processing progress is displayed continously.
Done. The page has refreshed and now you can see the Wombat list in the quicklaunch. Let's navigate to the list.
The structures and the aditional columns are succesfully imported.
You can also import files using a custom webpart.
Let's create a new webpart page especially for this.
Let's add the webpart to the page and save. The webpart is found under the JChem category.
Let's import now a JChem for Excel document. First, let's visualize the content.
Alright, now we can select it for upload and import it.
Navigate to the list.
The structures are rendered as expected.
